When i cough or bend over i feel like i av something trapped in my stomach and its pushing into my ribs?? hern
--------------------------------------------
Hi Donna,
I first started to get this 4 weeks ago and i ended up going to the emergency dept at the hospital because it got worse and the doctors was closed and i panicked.
They thought it was my appendix - so took it out as an emergency.
When i woke up i still had it and a new scar to add to it .
Trouble is i now have another one under the appendix scar.
My partner and family think both are hernias.
My father in law had one in the same place as the higher one of mine and he thinks that what it is.
I went to the doctors and she asked for me to be seen quickly by the hospital and they have sent me an appointment for March.
Have been waiting two weeks so far and both lumps still there.
I do move heavy furniture and carry far too much weight for my size and i did not rest after my operation so it would add up - have you been overdoing things - if so it could well be a possibility.
I was told hernias (small ones) do heal themselves and are not generally painfull to touch but they get in the way if you bend over etc. That would add up with me how about you.
I still think you should see someone asap though just to make sure.
By the way, you are drinking alot of water arent you and are not constipated ? Thats the first thing they want to know at the hospital and also when they xray your stomach if you are full of " poo" so to speak, it does show up - i had not been to toilet for 8 days before my op - so that blinded them a bit and im sure thats why they never did find the real problem. Trouble is that is normal for me and always has been but just because it wasnt normal to them they gave me an enema - which did nothing!
Sorry, going on a bit here.
Mine hurt the most when coughing and because it hurt when they pushed around my belly button and then released their hand they presumed it was my appendix.
Anyway, go to your docs tomorrow, best to get checked properly as if it is a large size hernia - they do have to be repaired. This is quite a simple of and i believe they cant do it through keyhole surgery now using netting to pull things back together. Thats what im hoping they will do for me in March.
Hope i may of been of some help here.
Elly x
