60 year old negro woman, diabetesType 2, HBP history, numbness in left heel, on Pioglit and Amaryl. Was on Glucophage before Pioglit. Cronic cough. Had a round of antibiotics to combat chest infection but the cough persists. What's causing the cough Additional Details2 weeks agoMerely corroborative information.

The cough could be caused by anything. You said she has chronic cough, but I didn't hear anything about history of asthma or COPD. If the cough was chronic, one worries about chronic bronchitis. The only way to diagnose that is to do further testing by a pulmonologist. Anything from infections to drug effects could do it.
If she is a diabetic, she might be on an ACE Inhibitor to help control BP or proteinuria. That can be a cause of chronic cough.
